"Diana? Wake up! Do you know what today is?"Jessie was shaking Diana all her might. Diana finally woke up."No. I don't know what today is,"Diana said sleepily."It's Halloween!!!"Jessie said, in a VERY loud voice. She must be very excited about whatever she just said, Diana thought. Even her thoughts sounded sleepy. She felt sleepy everywhere."What did you say? Hallo-what?"Diana asked Jessie, trying to sound very awake."Trying to sound awake makes me sound even sleepier," Diana mumbled to herself."I said Halloween, silly! Are you to sleepy to hear me?!"Jessie said. She sat down on the bed next to Diana."Here,"she said, tossing a piece of candy to Diana."How did you know Kit-Kat was my favorite candy?"Diana asked, having tossed her favorite candy."Lucky guess,"Jessie said. Diana was very surprised. Jessie wasn't exactly sure. It seemed as if she had read Diana's mind. But she knew it wasn't possible. What Jessie did was, well, think, I wonder what Diana's favorite candy is, and she suddenly heard Diana's thoughts. I can't wait to go trick or treating-If we go trick or treating. I haven't had Kit-Kat in a year and it's my favorite candy, Diana thought. To Jessie, this was really weird. She decided to tell Diana."Diana, I think I read you mind,"she said."What?!"Diana asked. She had no idea what Jessie was talking about."What?!"she asked again."I think I read your mind,"Jessie repeated herself."Okay. Is this some sort of Halloween trick?"Diana sighed. She was annoyed with Jessie. She knew it was a trick."No. I DID read your mind. Really! I did!"Jessie said. She was annoyed with Diana- she didn't believe her."Whatever. Let me read YOUR mind, then,"Diana said. She thought, What color is your house? Suddenly, she could hear Jessie's thoughts. She was reading Diana's thoughts, too, so that she could think up the answer to that question. My house is a big red brick house, Jessie thought. Diana stopped."That wasn't a trick, was it? I can read minds and you can, too!"Diana sighed in amazement this time. This was amazing to both Jessie and Diana. They were absolutely amazed.

Small stories for little kids: The Smalltown park
Today we're going to the Smalltown park. We will probably meet some people from Smalltown there. Let's go! First, we have to go through the Smalltown market, than go through the Smalltown Library. We'll go to the Smalltown Library later and find a good story. Oh, wait! I found a note! The Smalltown people must have left it for us to read. Here, I'll read it to you:
"Dear Smalltown comers, Isabelle and her little kiddie crew,
Welcome to Smalltown! You are welcome to stay at the Smalltown Hotel. I know a good story that I think you will like. It is in the Smalltown Library in the ages two through six section on shelf nine. I hope you like it!
-Little Catling"
Hmm... Sure sounds like an interesting story. We'll read it later. Let's go to the park now. But first I need help with my map. Oh, there's someone right over there! Let's ask him for help.......... He said that we need to turn left to get to the Smalltown market and then we have to turn right to get to the Smalltown Library. Do you know which way left is? The arrows will tell you!
<-Left is this way Right is this way->
There. Now let's go. <-Let's turn left. That will get us to the Smalltown market. Almost there.......... We're here! Now let's turn right->. That will get us to the Smalltown Library......... We're here! I see the park! It's straight ahead! Let's go!......... We're here now! And I see someone..... I know who that is! It's little Catling! Let's Talk to her. Here:
Isabelle: Nice to see you, little Catling! Do you remember us?
Little Catling: Of course I remember you! You are Isabelle! And is that you're little kiddie crew?
Isabelle: Yes.
Little Catling: How are you today? Have you read that story yet?
Isabelle: We're doing good. We haven't read the story yet, but we want to. Will you take us to the Smalltown Library?
Little Catling: Of course! Follow me.
Here we are! Let's find the story. Do you remember what shelf the story is on? I'll help you!:
It rhymes with mine and it comes after eight. Do you know what the number of the shelf is?
That's you're clue. Did it help? Here's the answer:
The answer is nine! It rhymes with mine and comes after eight! If you figured that out, you're doing great! Good job!
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine! Here's shelf nine! Let's read it:
Little Catling
Once there was a little cat who thought it was a duckling. It was raised by a mama duck. The little duckling, or catling, I should say, did everything the mama's little ducklings did. The only thing that was different about the catling was that it meowed. She didn't quack. But she still thought she was a little duckling. She ate corn when the little ducklings ate corn, she really did! Even when the ducklings swam she went along with them! She even followed mama duck everywhere she went. But when the catling saw a mouse, she decided to chase it."What is catling doing, mama?"a little duckling asked."She is a cat, not a duck. I forgot to tell you-I thought you would know because we have beaks, not tails."Mama duck said."Can we keep her mama? Pretty, pretty please?"asked another little duckling."Of course, little duckling. She is my own special catling"
The End
Wasn't that a good story? I hope you liked it! It's time for me to go to the Smalltown Hotel! Bye!

Small stories for little kids: Welcome to Smalltown!
About small stories for little kids:
Small stories for little kids is a little thing I've created. It has short stories that little kids will love! It also has tours of Smalltown, Interviews with the people and animals that live in Smalltown, and fun little notes that the people in Smalltown leave for us to read. The notes will tell you about the events in Smalltown, where to find good stories in the Smalltown Library, and a little bit about the life of the people in Smalltown. That's all for now. We'll have some fun later!

What I learned this week
I made a BEAUTIFUL art project today! I learned about St. Augustine of Hippo... Doesn't that sound weird? St. Augustine of HIPPO?! That makes me laugh. I know it's probably the name of a place, but it still makes me laugh! I still have to do reading today. I'm still reading the Roman Mysteries dolphins of Laurentum. It's very good. It is the fifth book in the series-and soon I'm going to read the first book. Isn't that just a tiny bit mixed up? I read the fourth one first, then the second, now the fifth, and next the first. Now I have to get back to the rest of my school work. Bye!
