Phases of the Moon

I read in history about Pheidippides. He ran 25 miles to Athens. When he got there he told everyone the news, then died. They put a cresent moon on their coins to remember him by. The reason for a cresent was because when he got to Athens, the moon was a cresent moon! Here are some moon phases:

1. Cresent moon:
A cresent moon is between a new moon and a half moon.
2. New moon:
A new moon is a phase when the moon is not visible from the Earth.
3. Full moon:
The full moon has many different names depending on when it appears.
4. Half moon:
A half moon looks like half a circle, it is also called a quarter moon.

All About Robins

I really like robins. Here are some facts about them:

Habitat:
Lawns, golf courses, towns, parks, and farms.
Seasons:
All year throughout most of the U.S.
( Facts taken from Birds Of North America Eastern Region by John Bull, Edith Bull, Gerald Gold, and Pieter D. Prall )

I found a family of robins that live in our backyard. There is a mom, a dad, and four kids. I named them, too. The mom is named Scarlet, the dad is named Red, and the kids are named Fluffy, Feathers, Leather, and Fiery. Feathers, Leather, and Fluffy are girls. Fiery is a boy. Fluffy and Fiery are VERY fast!!!

A President Puzzle

Two people were running for President and they both made 2658.5 promises. 2x2658.5 equals 5317. If you put 5317 in a calculator and turn it upside-down, it makes a word. What's the word?

Answer: Lies( that means all of those promises were lies! )

Some Things I Learned This Week

I'm using a new math book. This math book is WAY easier. I played a really cool geography game. It had all sorts of quizzes that you can do. I was VERY bad at the countries quiz, it was hard!!! I looked at a really cool blog, too!

Little Irish Girl

I think my little sister Olivia looks Irish. She has a beautiful red dress that looks Irish, too. She's going to have an Irish birthday party. We are going to make a banner that has three-leaf clovers on it. The banner will say happy birthday( in Irish! ). Here is how to say( and write )happy birthday in Irish:

How to say it:

Silly Songwriter

My brother sings VERY silly songs. I wrote them down so I could copy them on my blog. Here's one of them:

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Silly Song
Okay, I will do this, okay, okay, twinkle, twinkle little star, one, two, three, okay? I will do this, quack, quack, quack. That will be around, with a carseat and a computer in the compuv. Okay, okay. Turn on Rachael ray, so that will be done. Mix in this and that. But you didn't have to do that, okay? Chicka boom dog, chicka boom dog, chicka boom dog, okay?!?!?

Isn't that funny???

Story 2: Apple Picking

Today I went apple picking with my cousins, Jack, Diana, and Faith. We love apples! Faith was so excited she forgot what apples looked like. "Here we are!," said aunt Kristy( Jack and Diana's mom). We all got out of the car. We all looked around, but we didn't see any apples, just...trees! Aunt Kristy looked at her map to see if we were at the right place. "We're at the right place," she said. Jack got out the step stool we packed to look in the jumble of leaves. "No apples in here," said Jack. "Well," said aunt Kristy," We're going to a farm." We drove to the closest farm. "Hello, care to have a tour, city folks?" asked the farmer. "No," said aunt Kristy,"we want to know if we can pick some fruit." "Sure you can! Nothing is better than fresh fruit!," said the farmer. We looked at the trees. "I still don't see any apples!," said Jack. "Do you have any apples?," I asked the farmer. "Yes," said the farmer. "We didn't see any!," said Diana. "Everyone picked my apples because the trees at that fancy apple picking park didn't get proper care and stopped growing apples!!!," said the farmer. "Oh!,"said Jack.

Some Things I Learned This Week

This week I finished reading SPQR. I REALLY like the chapter I'm reading in The Mystery of History. I wrote a Bible verse in cursive. I'm done with my math book because I did EVERY math problem in the book! I copied the style of one of my favorite artists in art. I learned that the road is made of coal in science, isn't that interesting?

Story 1: The Butterfly Hunters

I was hunting butterflies with my cousins, Jack and Diana, and Alex and Olivia. Alex and Olivia love butterflies. Today finding butterflies was like going on an Easter egg hunt. It seemed like the butterflies just didn't want to come out, but we didn't stop looking until we found one. Alex looked in bushes, Olivia looked for them around trees, Jack looked in the garden, and me and Diana looked by the flower pots, but we didn't find a single one. I heard that lots of butterflies are around here, but everyone who said that seemed to be wrong. "Wait," said jack, We haven't looked around the bee hive yet!" "I don't think you should look there, Jack" said Diana. "Yeah, you might get stung!" said Alex. "Don't worry, I'll be careful," said Jack. "Okay, just remember not to bother the bees if you see them," said Diana. "Ouch!!!," yelled Jack. "Did you get stung, jack?," asked Olivia. "Yep," said Jack. "Oh, why didn't you be careful?," I asked him. "I was being careful, a bee just flew up and stung me!," said Jack. "Look!!!," yelled Olivia. "Butterflies!," said Alex. "A whole group of them, too," I said. "Yeah!," said Diana,"Look at them!" "I'm tired," said Jack. "Let's go back home," I said. "Okay," said Olivia.
THE END
