Tree!

We're decorating the tree tonight, and Amber gets to stay and decorate it with us. My dad just went to Walmart to buy some ornaments, he said he's getting about 50. It's going to be a lot of fun, and we get to drink hot chocolate and watch a Christmas movie.

P.S. I have a new book in my The Great Ballerina series.

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Hi!

Sorry I haven't posted in a long time! I've been busy playing with my friend Amber. And I go to school now too.

P.S. Me and Amber have a really cool blog that we created yesterday. It's called The Dogsitter's Blog. It's a blog about dogs and us dogsitting Daisy, our neighbor's dog that we walk every day after school.

Meteor shower

I watched the meteor shower last night. I saw 15 and there were 8 that I'm sure were real and not just fireflys and moths. The moon came up around 11:53 and ruined it. Too bad it was supposed to get better after midnight.

P.S. Happy first day of Fall! August 13th is the first unofficial day of Fall, because of the orange moon last night.

I don't know how our power went out.

No wind. (well, 10 mph)
No hail.
There WAS thunder, lightening, and heavy rain though.

What knocked the power out? Probably a lightening strike. Anyway, a tree was knocked over onto a car nearby, and THAT was probably lightening.

We have to go to Meijer today because all our food is garbage now.

P.S. Like my Accuweather weather widget? I'll change the place of the forecast once a day.

JOURNAL

6:58 am ~ July 3rd, 2009

I can't believe the fourth of July is tomorrow! The year is passing so fast. It seems like it was New Year just yesterday. . . . .

Anyway, I'm really bored right now. I'm just chewing on some month-old twizzlers - they still taste good, but they're stiff, so I can't bite them.
I hope me and dad can go bowling today. It would help cure my boredom.

At least tomorrow will be more exciting.

________________________________________
3:48 pm ~ July 28th, 2009

Sorry I haven't written a Journal entry in a while. I've been busy.

Anyway, I have a new friend named Trista who lives in California. She's here because she's visiting her dad. She's staying here for the Summer.

She has to go to her grandma's house today. She's leaving for two weeks.

She'll be back for my birthday party though!

__________________________________________

8:24 am ~ July 29th, 2009

It's going to rain all day, and then it's going to be partly cloudy for the rest of the week. Yay.

Anyway, me and Jack and Diana have our own spy club now, and I send them e-mails about it everyday.
Later I'll post about our spy stuff.

It's going to be boring to play outside without Trista here.

Huh. . . ?

It just thundered. It's raining (big drops). The sky in the back yard is cloudy. The sky in the front yard is. . . . sunny?! This is very strange weather. And anyway, the weather says it's partly cloudy, and it says that there's supposed to be a 0% chance of rain. WEIRD.

UPDATE: There are two severe thunderstorm warnings about and hour and a half northwest of us, near lake Saint Clair. Quarter size hail, winds in excess of 60 mph, and it's NOT MOVING. Strange. . . .

The mysteries of weather: finally starting!

I am finally starting this! Yay!

First, let's go through something that is pretty much 1/3 about weather: Air pollution.

This is absolutely crazy, but checking the air quality levels on the weather channel I noticed that Ney York city (full of airplanes, cars, buses, people. . .) has the Good air quality level, while Little Rock Arkansas (not much of that stuff) has the air quality level Unhealthy for sensitive groups. Isn't that weird?!

Cars are one of the top air polluters, as well as people (by using electricity, smoking, setting off fireworks, etc. . . .). I really do not understand this. How could New York city have a good pollution level, while Little Rock is highly polluted and unhealthy to sensitive people? This is very strange. It'll take a lot of work to figure this out.

Maybe this is just the high wind from the severe storms in New York blowing the gases and fumes away, and the good weather and low wind in Little Rock keeping the fumes and gases in the air. This is quite possible, although it may also have a very scientific answer. This'll take a while.

Glasses

I got my glasses yesterday! I'll post a picture of them soon!

More coming soon!

Rainbows

So far this year, I've seen two rainbows. I saw them both last week.

The rainbow we got yesterday was the brightest rainbow I've ever seen; it was after a brief hail and heavy rain, and it was in front of dark blue clouds. It was beautiful.

The other one i think I saw on Tuesday. It was just a rainbow line in front of gray-white clouds, and it wasn't very bright or colorful, but at least it was our first rainbow of the year!

P.S. I'm writing more weather posts soon!
You might want to check out my weather encyclopedia. First chapters: Fronts; Rain; Lightening

Back

I'm back!

P.S. I forgot to do the camp journal thing, but I'll write a story about what I did.

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Camp Journal

I will write about what I did at camp once I come home. I'll bring a journal with me and I'll write one entry a day, and when I'm back I'll post all my entries so you can know what I've been doing at camp.

P.S. When I'm back from camp, I'll also start a travel forecast. Tell me where you're going (and how long you're going to be there) and I'll give you the forecast. Even the hourly forecast for the first day or two of your trip.
By the way, tell me WHEN you're going.

Glasses

I went to the doctor today, and she said I need glasses. I got to the fourth row on the eye chart and then I couldn't read anything in that row or after it.

I am getting my glasses when I come back from camp.

the mysteries of weather: Week 1

My experiment: Going until August. Trying to figure out lots of things about weather. First, some facts:

1. About a week ago, we had a tornado watch, and I saw a black wall cloud with weak rotation. Luckily, there wasn't a funnel cloud or tornado.

2. In late April, we got a severe thunderstorm. Mammatus clouds outside, with winds in excess of 65 mph, knocked out the power of 75,000 homes in Michigan. Ours was out for seven hours.

3. Last year, on Olivia's birthday, the sirens went off. A tornado touched down 10 minutes away.

Some things I know about weather:

Tornadoes

#1. They usually touch down on the rainless end of the Anvil, but this doesn't always happen.
#2. Signs to look for: Sudden temperature drop, a wall cloud(usually black, long, and has a flat bottom), and clouds of debris
#3. Tornadoes are often accompanied my hail, usually shortly before.

Myths:

Myth: You will always see a green sky before a tornado.

False. It is more likely that you will see a green sky during a regular rain shower. Usually, there is no need to worry, but you should turn the weather on just in case.

Myth: You will always see the funnel cloud.

False and true. Tornadoes usually happen on the rainless side of the Anvil, but this does not always happen, so it is pretty much both.
P.S. When the tornado is NOT on the rainless side of the Anvil, it is sometimes in heavy rain, which surrounds it and makes it hard to see.

Myth: The sky will always be completely cloudy.

False. Sometimes, the sky just has a big wall cloud, with blue sky surrounding it. This is uncommon, but it happens once in a while.
As for the cloudiness, that is mostly true, since the wall cloud being surrounded by blue sky is very rare.
P.S. When you have a tornado warning and the sky is blue, look out every window quickly. You will probably see the wall cloud. As soon as you see it, go to a basement or room with no windows, and bring a battery-powered radio with you. Stay in the basement/room with no windows until you hear the all clear message.

WEATHER MYSTERIES

Why do some severe thunderstorms produce tornadoes while others don't?

This question is pretty much unanswerable right now, though I will be working on it, and other meteorologists will be too.
I will post information about this as soon as I find some.
________________________________________________________________

I have discovered a NEW kind of weather! It's a Thunderquake.

What is a thunderquake?

Answer: It's like an earthquake, except thunder is the one that creates it.
During bad thunderstorms, the thunder gets really LOUD, right? Sometimes, It'll get so loud that it shakes your house!
They are not really that bad though. They might make a few things fall (like a vase or a small lamp), but they wouldn't hurt you unless something fell on you.

Here's a tip: Don't sit/stand under hanging shelves during a thunderquake!

THUNDERQUAKE SAFETY:

#1. After a thunderquake, watch for glass. Wear thick gloves, sneakers, and long sleeve shirts and jeans when you are cleaning up broken glass.
#2. Stay inside. If you are getting a thunderquake, it's likely that you'll gets a whole bunch of lightening after it!
#3. The thunder is not really that bad, it's the lightening during and after it. Stay away from wiring and electrical appliances such as televisions, telephones (cordless phones are fine), and fans.

MY THUNDERQUAKE EXPERIENCE

On Thursday night I got a thunderquake, but everything was OK. There was plenty lightening of after it, though.
The only really "bad" thing that happened was a few books fell of my wardrobe.

Make a pen out of paper, tape, and a bit more

What you'll need:
2 inch wide, 6 inch long paper strip
Electrical tape
Peg from Tricky triangle
Ink tube and top of a pen

1. Roll the paper into a thin tube.
2. Put the peg in the bottom end of the tube.
3. Put the ink(with the top on it)into the top end of the tube.
4. Push some of the paper into the top until the ink is touching the peg and sticky out of the top.
5. Tape this all around with the electrical tape.

I have one of these pens. It works pretty good.

What does the computer mouse have to do with real mice? What do you call more then one computer mouse?

This month's featured article: Getting used to the keyboard
___________________________________________________
Did you ever wonder what your blog teaches you?
It helps with your writing and memorization skills.
Why memorization? It helps you memorize the keyboard keys.

After having a blog for a year or so, you're pretty used to the keyboard keys and don't have to look all over the place for them, but you still have to look at the keyboard. After a year and a half, you have them memorized so well that you can type without looking at the keyboard, but you often make mistakes.

Then, after two years, you pretty much do it without even looking at the computer.

I'm pretty good, I can type pretty fast for my age, since I've had this blog for almost a year and a half, and I can type short words like you and them. But I often forget I can.

I know it sounds silly to forget you can type without looking at the keyboard, but what do you expect me to do, put sticky notes everywhere saying 'Remember not to look at the computer screen'?

Anyway, with some practice, concentration, and a computer, maybe I will not forget that I don't need to look at the keyboard when I type.

Now, where do I put these sticky notes. . . . . . . . . ?

I hope you liked this issue of Computer fun! I post a new one each month.

How to me an Adventure Club member

You can join the Adventure club yourself! Tell me your first name and I'll write you down on our member list. Come back often to tell us about your adventures.

HOW TO BE ADVENTUROUS:
______________________________________________________
#1. Do things The hard way. For example, at me and Diana's clubhouse, we jump off the ladder platform instead of climb down.

#2. Have The right gear. You need lots of gear for your adventures. For example, If you go on an adventure in a forest, you need a long sleeve shirt, pants, and sneakers to prevent from getting hurt by prickly thorns and weeds. And you need bug spray, especially after rainy days. That's when all the mosquitoes are out.

#3. It's more fun if you have a Team to have your adventures with. Help each other and use teamwork if something goes wrong.

#4. Sometimes it's best to have a First aid kit nearby. It depends on what sort of adventure you go on and your gear. For example, if you go into a forest with a T-shirt and shorts, you'll probably get pricked by thorns and need some Band-aids.

#5. Be Prepared. For example, if your going on a hike, bring snacks and bottles of water for you and the rest of the club. Everyone should bring some Band-aids and tissues, too.

#6. Check The weather. If it's going to rain, storm, or snow, you probably should reschedule for a day when the weather is nice. You should also check the temperature. For example, you wouldn't want to go on an adventure in temperatures as high as 110 degrees or as cold as 20 below, would you? It's best to have your adventures in Spring and Fall, when the average temperature range is 50-75.

That is how you become a member and how you be adventurous for your adventures in our club.

Remember. . .

Do things the hard way, have the right gear, have adventures with your friends, bring a First aid kit, be prepared, and check the weather.

To do today: Monday, June 15th 2009

Me and Diana's Adventure Club

FACTS ABOUT OUR CLUB:

At aunt Kristy and uncle Tom's house. . .

Clubhouse/hideout: The slide and platform. The platform is only 3 feet wide and 6 feet long. But we have three adventurous ways to get in and out.

Getting in: Climbing up ladder two bars at a time, climbing up slide, climbing through hole (4 feet up)

Getting out: Jumping down place near ladder, crawling down slide, climbing down ladder (not holding on)

Adventure forest: The plants in the dirt in aunt Kristy's garden. it's about 30 feet long (with a few turns)

What's in it: Two 18-foot-tall trees, twelve 5-foot-tall trees, ten 3-foot-tall bushes, one 7-foot-tall tree(with some sort of flowers on it), one 9-foot-tall tree(some sort of fruit on it), a patch of 2-foot-tall grass, a few flowers, LOTS of prickly weeds, and about 18 flat stones(sides about 6 to 7 inches)

What we do for fun: Play on slide, have adventures, play on stones(they are set sort of like hopscotch), play tag, and talk

ADVENTURE JOURNAL

#1: Rescue Grace!

Diana heard this crying and screaming noise, and she told me. We looked at the bushes, and we saw that Grace was tangled and lost in them! The bushes were about 5 inches taller than her, so she couldn't see. I went in to rescue her.
It was easy because me and Diana play in those bushes all the time.
I got to her, picked her up, and carried her out.

#2: War!

Jack and Alex started their own club, and their clubhouse was the plastic house. Jack had to crouch down.
Because of that, they raided me and Diana's special Hideout!
Jack started a war. He and Alex threw balls at me and Diana. We got in their clubhouse and shut the windows with shutters.
Jack opened the door, which I was pulling, but I had been pulling longer then he had. I couldn't hold it anymore.
Me and Diana jumped out the back window, and Jack followed us. I'm a very fast runner, so I missed most of his hits and scratches.

I'll tell you more about our Adventure Club later!

Storm Details: Michigan, April 2009: Roofs ripped off, shingles blown away, some tornadoes

Date: April 25th, 2009
Location: Southern Michigan
Storm type: Severe thunderstorm/tornadoes

Details: I was watching TV, and then our power suddenly went out. It was hailing. The winds in the storm were at least 60 miles per hour. My mom looked at the laptop. Our alert: Severe thunderstorm warning, 1:55.
It was 1:55 when we checked the alert.

In Lexington, there was a tornado, and there was almost one in Dearborn, which means there was a funnel cloud that didn't touch the ground. The tornado in Lexington uprooted a tree and blew a sign in half.

At my house, we saw the next day that one small tree was almost completely uprooted, and a few shingles were blown off our roof.

This was pretty much the worst storm that Michigan has ever had in April: Uprooted trees, tornadoes, 60 mph+ winds, hail, cloud to ground lightening, and rumbles of thunder the whole storm through.

Here's a link for some pictures of the storm: http://www.weather.com/outlook/photo/keywords?keywords=MI+tornado&x=10&y=7

Weather report

Yesterday, the midwest was filled with tornadoes and supercells - even Michigan and Wisconsin.

There was a tornado in Michigan, in Ithaca, which crossed over from Wisconsin, it got all the way over Lake Michigan.
That tornado was at Milwaukee, Wisconsin at one point.

Half of Lower Michigan had a tornado watch.

There were also Severe thunderstorm warnings in Lower Michigan and Wisconsin, including a Severe thunderstorm watch for a few counties in southeastern Wisconsin.

Today, the Northeast and central area of the U.S. are expected to get severe storms, especially Missouri and Pennsylvania. This may include tornadic activity.

Severe Possible

At nana and papa's house, we're in severe possible.

We had a strong storm early this morning, it wasn't windy or hailing but I saw 5 lightning strikes at the same time, they lit up the whole sky.

Anyway, we're watching Up(Disney Pixar movie)at 1:10. We won't see it in 3D though.

I can't wait to have the Little Chef, it'll be a lot of fun. I also have a new recipe to add to my menu, banilla (or banana-vanilla) pie!

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients:
store-bought graham cracker pie crust
Bannila yogurt (or banana and vanilla, just mix them together)
Whip cream

1. Pour the bannila yogurt into the pie crust, it takes about six or seven cups.
2. Mix in a cup of whip cream, to keep the yogurt from falling out when you cut a slice.
3. Put a dot of whip cream on top in the middle. It's a good decoration.

I'll try to get the recipes for all my recipes before I leave tomorrow. Not partchooeezy though, just scroll down to my idea book.

Little Chef: Interview

In order:

First read my post Little Chef, then Little Chef Menu, and then read this.

INTERVIEW:

Question: Are you excited about doing all this cooking?

I can't wait! It's going to be even more fun since Jack and the Junior helpers are going to help me, and Diana will do some cooking when she's not busy taking orders.

Question: Junior Helpers?

Alex, Olivia, and Faith. They do things like give us the food that they can reach and set the microwave timer.

Question: Are they excited?

Alex and Olivia are almost as excited as me! I don't know about Faith, though, because she's in Chicago.

Question: How did you come up with Partchooeezy?

Ummm. . . . . I forgot.

Question: What are you, Jack, Diana, and the Junior helpers having for your meals?

We're making things from our menus for us.

Little Chef: Menu

Scroll down for the first post on Little Chef if you haven't read it. After that, read this.
If you have read it, read this now.

Here is our menu. They are simple recipes, but they're all delicious.

The ones marked with RRKC stands for Rachael Ray Kids Cookbook, and the ones marked with MR stand for My Recipe.

I can't wait to start our restaurant! Here's more about it:

Where: At nana and papa's house it's in the basement, and at aunt Kristy and uncle Tom's house it's at the kitchen table.

Time: 8:00 am through 9:00 pm. We'll have to wake up soooo EARLY!

Meals: All of them! Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, Snacks. . . . . . .

When: Oh, does that mean the date? I don't know, just a day when we're not going to be out doing something.

Rating: Alex and Olivia rate it five stars.

Seating: At aunt Kristy and Uncle Tom's, it just chairs at the kitchen table. At nana and papa's, it's a couch, a few little chairs(Gracie), and the computer chair.

Entertainment: At nana and papa's, TV, a pool table, and magazines (Reader's Digest and Family Fun).
At aunt Kristy and uncle Tom's, everyone is next to the kitchen so me and Jack will tell jokes while we cook and I might take a few magazines (Reader's Digest and Family Fun) for everybody to read while they wait for their food.

Which place is best: Nana and Papa's.
It'll be more like a restruant because they won't see us cooking - we'll be upstairs.
It's more fun too, because it has magazines and TV. The pool table is good too, incase anybody wants to play some pool. I like playing pool.

It will be a lot of fun! I can't wait to go to nana and papa's this weekend!

Little Chef

In Chicago, we will have a restaurant for a day. Me, Alex, Olivia, Faith, Jack, and Diana will all work there, We all have jobs. Nana, papa, Aunt Kristy, Uncle Tom, Mom, dad, and Grace will be who we are serving.

Job positions:

Isabelle: Head chef
(I am the oldest, so I'm pretty much the best cook!)

Jack: Chef
(He helps a lot. For example, he reminds me what the ingredients are, how much of what to put in, and does 1/3 of the cooking.)

Diana: Waitress
(She takes peoples' orders, tells me and Jack who wants what, we make it, give it to her, she gives it to the customer. When she's not busy, she helps with the cooking.)

Alex, Faith, and Olivia: Junior helpers
(They get to give us the ingredients that they can reach. They also set the microwave timer with my help.)

Hours:
We're pretty much making all the meals, and everybody gets what they want.

We'll pretty much be open 8 am through 9 pm.

Menu:
A few recipes from my Rachel Ray kids cookbook, and some I invented myself, with drinks like milk and water.

I'll post more later!

Bubble Fest

Today is the first annual Bubble Fest in our house. Here:

GAMES

1. Bubble Dimes
Instructions:
1. Find a dime.
2. Blow a big bubble.
3. Throw the dime through the bubble. The person who throws the dime closest to the middle of the bubble wins.

2. Big Bubble Contest
Instructions:
1. Just blow a big bubble! The person with the biggest bubble wins.

3. Bubble Go Fish
Instructions:
1. Make circle shaped cards. To give them a more bubbly appearance, Draw a curved rectangle in the upper left corner.
2. You just made the front of the card. To make the back, make the cards like in regular go fish: Draw four cards with the same object or shape.
3. Make about 20-30 sets of four, depending on how many people are playing.
4. Play like regular go fish!

I might have snacks up later.

The Forest

I am going to a forest near the school I went to before I was homeschooled.

I am going tomorrow. Last time I was there was three years ago, and the grass was a foot and a half tall, so the highest I'm guessing the grass is now is three feet tall. There are lots of prickly weeds though, but there are also beautiful flowers.

Alex and Olivia are coming too, it's going to be a lot of fun!

P.S. When I come back from Chicago, I might write about a few kids who find a secret world in the forest that I'm visiting.

Going to Chicago

I'm going to Chicago this June.

I actually leave on May 31st, But most of our time is this June. I am so excited!

While we're there, we're going to celebrate Olivia's birthday, she is turning four. It's actually June 9th and we're leaving June 7th, so we're celebrating it early.

My ideas: Idea #5 up!

Idea #1
___________________________________________________________________
Last night I thought of something. I got out of bed and hung two hangers on the side of my bunk bed ladder. I asked Olivia what she wanted to wear today, and I put it on the hanger. I did the same thing with Alex.

This morning, they just got out of bed and put on the clothes on their hangers! Usually they make messes trying to find clothes, but if I keep doing this everyday there will never be a clothing mess again!
I also put up a hanger for me this morning. I just hung up my clothes for tomorrow.

Who knew a hanger could prevent a mess?
___________________________________________________________________

Idea #2
___________________________________________________________________
Sometimes I like to keep things simple, like using that idea with the hanger.

This is almost just as simple: Predicting the weather. Without using electricity.

This means no checking the weather on the computer, checking it on the Weather channel, the weather website. . . . . . . . . . . . You don't need anything. You pretty much just need clouds and a cricket.

Temperature: Count the number of cricket chirps in 15 seconds. Add 40 to that and you have the temperature.
Weather: Look at the clouds.
Cirrus-Thin and wispy, these are the highest clouds in the sky. These usually appear when it's going to be a nice day.
Cumulus-Very puffy, usually white. If one is covering the sun, don't look at it! It's blinding white.
Now, Cumulus clouds usually appear when it's going to be a nice day. But watch out, if there are lots in the sky there might be rain later.
Cumulonimbus-A mix of Cumulus(above)and Nimbus(below)clouds. When Cumulus clouds bump into each other, they can get big and tall and grey. These clouds mean thunderstorms are coming.
Nimbus-Usually bluish-grey, these clouds bring rain, but sometimes they just pass right over you and move somewhere else.

That's the simplest way of predicting the weather!

Without using electricity, of course.
_____________________________________________________________
Idea #3
_____________________________________________________________
Make a snowglobe! It's easy.

Take a clear glass jar(like a salsa or jam jar with the label peeled off)and take the lid off. Fill it all the way up with water, and then just put some beads, sequins, and glitter in it. Put
the lid back on. Turn it upside down.

After that, turn it back up so the glitter falls to the bottom again.

___________________________________________________________________

Idea #4
_____________________________________________________________
Make Partchoeezy! Here's the recipe.

Ingredients:
Pepperoni
Cheese
Bread
Tomato paste

Recipe:
1.
Toast your bread.
2. After that, spread on the tomato paste.
3. Put two pieces of cheese on each slice.
4. Cut one piece of pepperoni into three rows, then cut each row in half. You should have six small pieces. Six small pieces(1 whole piece)per slice.
5. Microwave for one minute.
6. Let it cool off for three minutes. After that, it's ready to eat!
___________________________________________________________________
Idea #5
_____________________________________________________________
Make a little neighborhood! It's perfect for kids. You can share it with your brothers, sisters, and friends.

Library:
Use a bookshelf for this.
Instructions:
1. Put your little brother and sister's books on the bookshelf.
2. Make paper or cardboard library cards, have them sign their names.
3. Set a number of days the books can be kept.
4. Set a number of how many books can be checked out.
5. Rules.

After they check out their books, they can't get any more until take them back.

They have to ask you to "check out" the books. Like, pretend to scan their library card and books.
6. Have fun!

TIPS: For my Library. . .
Number of days: 3
How many books?:Up to 10

P.S. Maybe I can post pictures sometime.
I'll have my church up soon.

Church

This works well with little brothers and little sisters.

1. Choose a nice, sunny or shady spot.(outside works well)
2. Find a Bible that has bible stories, except like they would be like in the present, so it's easier for little kids to understand. For example, I use the Little Girls Bible Storybook.
3. Read bible verses(from regular bible), pray, read bible stories(little kids' bible), and send out prayer balloons.(below)

Prayer balloons:
1. Get a helium filled balloon.
2. Write a prayer(like the Lord's Prayer)on a piece of paper.
3. Punch a hole in the top of the piece of paper.
4. Tie it onto the balloon with the balloon ribbon.
5. Before you let go of it, write this at the bottom:

If you find this prayer, please e-mail _______.

If you want to know how far it went, put this below that.

Please e-mail your country. If you live in the United States, e-mail your state.
I would like to know how far this prayer has traveled.

P.S. I'll have my store up soon!
___________________________________________________________________

I really hope I come up with more good ideas. I'm trying to come up with ten or more.

Partchoeezy

Partchoeezy- pronounced Parch-ooh-easy: A delicious pizza-like treat, made with bread, cheese, pepperoni, and tomato paste

I came up with that. It sort of reminds me of the game Parcheezi(is that spelled right?). I forgot where I heard of it. . . . maybe my world almanac for kids.

Anyway, I am making Partchoeezy this afternoon with Alex and Olivia. If it turns out right, it will be Idea #3 in my idea book.

I can't wait to make it!

Power out

Sorry I haven't posted lately, the computer had a virus and the power was out one day. I'll tell you about the storm.

I was watching Flight 29 Down on Discovery kids, and suddenly the power was out and it was raining and hailing. 5 minutes later, the wind started blowing everything around outside, it even uprooted a tree. The winds were blowing the rain to the left, and it was really scary. The wind was like 60 miles per hour, maybe even 70! The clouds became mammatus clouds, which are black and scary. They usually look like bubblewrap, some deep hills in them, they look like holes being pushed into the clouds. Usually these occur during a severe thunderstorm or before a tornado. The thunder was very, very loud.
10 minutes later, the wind was gone and so was most of the thunder and lighting, but it was still raining and hailing. My mom called my dad and he said the worst had passed.

75,000 people in our area didn't have power, that's what the news said when we got back home from dinner.

It was the worst thunderstorm we ever had. The next day I read on the weather website that the clouds had rotation in them and might have produced a tornado. While our power was out, we had a tornado watch.

Back!

I'm back from my grandma's house.

Weather: April 9th through April 14th 2009

SEVERE WEATHER
__________________
A storm system will be moving through the mid-South today and tomorrow, and eventually exit through the East tomorrow night. It will bring thunderstorms to Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, a small bit of Texas, and Ohio. There is the biggest tornado threat for northeastern Oklahoma, southwestern Kansas, northern Arkansas, and southern Mississippi. On Friday that threat will move to southern Tennessee, and northern Georgia and Alabama.
Today there is a severe thunderstorm threat for all the states listed for thunderstorms, but the severe thunderstorm threat will not be for Kentucky today, mainly tonight and tomorrow morning through early afternoon.

HURRICANES
_______________
Hurricane season is still about two months away, but Texas is getting a hurricane very soon. It has not been named yet. Some of the hurricane names for this year include Peter, Ida, and many others.
The prediction of Hurricanes and topical storms this year:
Tropical storms: 12
Hurricanes: 6
Major hurricanes: 2

Next storm system entering through West
_________________________________
There will be a new storm system entering through the West on Friday, bringing rain to most of the U.S. Much of it will just be rain for the northeast, a few thunderstorms in Kentucky. A couple of these storms may be severe, but it is unpredictable where they will be currently. This storm will be much of a relief to Texas(scroll down).

Texas wildfire threat
_________________
The threat for Texas wildfires is currently extremely high, With extreme heat in the 80s and 90s for some parts. The air there is very dry, and there will be wind pushing through most of Texas, making wildfires and spreading them. Most of these winds will be gusting up to 30 miles per hour. The next storm system will bring much needed rain to Texas, it will stop the spread of the wildfire and prevent another one for a few weeks.

Etsy shop

In a couple weeks, I am going to create my own Etsy shop! It will be called Isabelle's Holiday cards, stationary, and more! I am creating all the things for it already. Mainly Christmas stuff to sell in December, but I've got some Spring and Easter things too, but the Easter things will be a bit late! If my grandma will help me, I'll make a Spring T-shirt, and some Spring colored bracelets. The beads will be pastel colors: Light purple, light pink, light yellow, light green, and light blue. Very Springy colors. I'll do the same for each season, a bracelet to match its colors and a T-Shirt(or long sleeve, depending on the season)for the biggest holiday in that season. Here:

Winter: Christmas: Long sleeve shirt
Spring: Easter: T-Shirt
Summer: Fourth of July: T-Shirt
Fall: Halloween: Half-sleeve shirt

I will make two of each, one big, one little. I will try the little one on me to see what size it is, but it will probably be my size. I might try the big one too.

My Stationary is beautiful, I made Red Poinsetta Stationary for Spring(I'm sure my grandma would like it!), Golden SnowFlake Stationary #1 for Winter, Golden Snowflake Stationary #2 for Winter, Nutcracker Stationary for Winter(mainly Christmas), Pastel Purple and Gold Stationary for Spring(because it's pastel purple), and Yellow Star Stationary for Summer(mainly Fourth of July). I hope you like it! I made MiniCards(they are tiny cards, so small you can't even write in them, but the Stamp-Size Cards can just have three or four words written in them), too. Some of them have matching stationary.

My shop will be made when I get back from my Grandma's house!

Wow. . .

The weather is crazy! Tornadoes in Georgia, tornado watches all throughout the Southeast, it's crazy! I have the Weather Channel Desktop(I check it at least once everyday), and one of the maps says my grandma is in the severe possible zone, but Kentucky has no active weather alerts. I'm getting showers today and snow tomorrow. It's COLD! Just a week ago the high was 60 and now it's 45. It's 41 right now, and *checks Weather Channel Desktop* 58 at my grandma's house. She's getting thunderstorms today. I can't wait until it's hot again.

I can also tell the weather by the clouds. Here:

Cumulonimbus clouds: Easy. Thunderstorms. Sometimes tornadoes, if they look bigger and blacker and violent.
Cumulus clouds: A nice, sunny day.
Nimbus clouds: Rain, of course! They look sort of like cumulonimbus clouds but smaller and grayer.
Cirrus: Sunny.
Stratus: Hmm. . . mostly just cloudy. Sometimes they bring rain.

Yesterday there were cumulus, cirrus, and stratus clouds. and some cittro-stratus(they have rows and layers, but they are very thin and beautiful). It looked really pretty. It was just cloudy all day.
