This does not have anything about math, but it's cool: The Mayan temple of five stories faces west so that on May 1st and August 13th(my birthday!)when the sun reaches it's highest point, it shines directly into the temple's rooms.

Fun fact: From 350-900 AD, the Mayan people developed the concept of zero. They also estimated the number of days in a year. Mayan children were homeschooled by their parents(like me!).
